Women's Leadership | Women Envisioning Hope

Women in mixed cities encounter the harsh and complex reality of conflict in the most personal and daily settings. On one hand, they navigate social tensions daily in neighborhoods, playgrounds, educational institutions, and family spaces. On the other hand, their voices are rarely heard in a public and security discourse dominated by men.

We believe that local joint groups of women—fostering sisterhood, identifying shared community interests, and developing field responses to strengthen trust and neighborly relations—are the most essential foundation for deep social change at the meeting points of mixed city communities.

• Sisterhood and Shared Community Interests: Establishing local dialogue and action groups that cultivate trust and direct connection across communities, demonstrating a practical model for shared living.
• In the Spirit of UN Security Council Resolution 1325: Integrating women and their unique voices into decision-making processes, dialogue, trauma processing, and emergency responses.
• From Encounter to Civic Action: Participants go beyond discussion to initiate and lead local projects directly impacting their municipal and community environments.

The Women Envisioning Hope network currently operates with a broad nationwide focus:

• North: Acre, Haifa, Nof HaGalil, and the Jezreel Valley.
• Center: Lod.
• South: Yeroham and Rachma (Negev region).

• Bi-weekly meetings: Learning, trauma processing, acquiring leadership tools, constructive communication, and building skills for dialogue and trust-building in the local space (15–20 participants per group).
• Community gatherings and joint events: Social and cultural gatherings around holidays and significant dates to strengthen human and community bonds.
• Local initiatives: Implementing women-led community projects across the cities to strengthen resilience and good neighborly relations.

The field work and the voices of the network's women were among the central sources of inspiration for writing the book "Women Write Hope" (an initiative of Dror Rubin and Ghadir Hani, with professional guidance from Prof. Amia Lieblich).
